Hero animations are the moment the landing page either earns the scroll or doesn't. We build them muted-by-default, performance-budgeted, and short enough to loop without grating. Lottie for the brand-shaped motion, motion/react for the interactive layer, Spline where 3D earns the payload.
What we build
Lottie for the lightweight brand loop
After Effects compositions exported through Bodymovin as Lottie JSON. Crisp at any size, themable at runtime, under 100kb most of the time. The hero loop loads fast and renders sharp.
motion/react for the interactive piece
When the hero responds to scroll, mouse position, or focus, motion/react handles the gesture. State changes feel real; layout animations stay performant.
Spline for 3D when payload makes sense
3D scenes via Spline when the brand earns the bytes. We benchmark per-page Spline payload against the rest of the page; if 3D pushes us over LCP target, it doesn't ship.
Designed to loop, not to wait
Hero motion loops cleanly without obvious cuts. Users scrolling 3 seconds in don't notice a restart; the loop length is shaped to feel ambient, not announce itself.
Performance budget enforced before launch
LCP under 1.5s. INP under 200ms. CLS under 0.1. The hero animation is the most common cause of regression here; we measure before merge.
Static fallback for the slowest connections
Static poster image renders instantly; the animated layer hydrates on top. Users on 3G see the brand; users on broadband see the motion.
